This model loads Three.js r128 from a local vendor/ folder (vendor/three.min.js, sibling or parent). No network copy is ever fetched. Keep the vendor folder next to this file. If every 3D tab shows nothing, the browser WebGL context cap is the usual cause — close other 3D tabs and check hardware acceleration.

HOW

WHAT THIS PAGE IS

A schematic 3D simulation of the Steady Eddie retrofit pattern applied to the soil-compaction machine family. Every solid in the scene is procedural, boxy and deliberately non-photoreal. Colour was added to make the argument legible — yellow for the host machine, red for the retrofit — not to imply a built product. Nothing rendered here exists as hardware.

WHAT IS REAL IN THIS PAGE

  • The doctrine: AI plans. Rules govern. Humans authorize. Safety has veto.
  • The retrofit pattern: physical actuation on the stock controls only — no CAN, no ECU, no firmware integration, ever. Human controls always remain in place.
  • The economics pattern: the dock installs once and stays; the Eddie operator unit deploys when required and is removed when not; one unit can serve many docked machines, one at a time.
  • The gate behaviour in THE FILM: the timeline genuinely stops at the authorization gate, decline is a first-class path, and REVOKE is instant.
  • The thesis note for this family: systematic overlapping pass work — the core duty of a compactor — is the most natural first case for supervised autonomy, because the plan is a pattern and coverage is checkable from above.

WHAT IS SCHEMATIC IN THIS PAGE

  • All geometry: machines, dock, Eddie unit, arms, site, terrain, figures.
  • All dimensions and distances. The 1.8 m crew figure is the only stated scale reference; every other size is class-plausible, not measured.
  • All motion and timing: travel speed, lane widths, turnarounds and the pass pattern run at demonstration rate for the camera. They are not a claimed working speed, cycle time or productivity figure.
  • Telemetry strings, field radii, geofence extents — illustrative only.

THE SIX VIEWS

  • THE FILM — the deployment narrative: install, deploy, engage, the authorization gate, SE-1 teleoperation, removal. The gate genuinely blocks.
  • THE MACHINE — close orbit. Yellow is the host machine; red is the whole of the retrofit. Click any machine to focus the camera on it.
  • WORK AREA — the site at working distance: lift, road, stockpiles, hardstand, geofence, crew.
  • EYE IN THE SKY — overwatch with the live pass map, protective fields, exclusion zone and legend. The strongest view of this family.
  • THE PROGRAM — three docked machines, one Eddie, one envelope, the locked ladder, and the authority chain in plain sight.
  • THE NUMBERS — this panel: what is real, what is schematic, and counters that tally only the animation itself.

ON-SCREEN SESSION COUNTERS (LIVE)

These counters report only what this simulation has drawn on screen since the page loaded. They are honest as a tally of the animation and meaningless as a measurement of anything else.

Three lanes are drawn as already-compacted when the page loads. That is visual state to make the EARTH/SUBGRADE boundary readable immediately — it is not a record of work and it is excluded from the pass counter.

HOW THE PASS MAP WORKS

The lift is divided into seven parallel lanes, each slightly narrower than adjacent so successive passes overlap — no missed strips. In every view except THE FILM the machine runs the pattern end to end: drive a lane, shift half a machine-width sideways, reverse down the next. SUBGRADE colour is painted onto the ground exactly as far as the machine has actually travelled on screen — the map is drawn by the animation, not by a script of claimed results. When all seven lanes read SUBGRADE the lift is closed out, a new loose lift is drawn, and the counters keep accumulating. EYE IN THE SKY is the intended vantage: pattern work is checkable from above, which is precisely why this machine family is the natural first case for supervised autonomy.

READING THE SITE

  • Current lift — EARTH (loose) vs SUBGRADE (compacted); stakes with hi-vis tops mark the lift edges; dark centrelines are the planned lanes.
  • Haul road — AGGREGATE base course with cone lines; the delivery route for lift material from off site.
  • Stockpiles — the next lift, waiting; one granular pile by the road.
  • Hardstand — CONCRETE; two more machines of this family parked with docks installed and empty. One Eddie serves all three, one at a time.
  • Geofence — posted perimeter with a red ground line: the envelope. Rules govern everything inside it; nothing operates outside it.
  • Fields — red stop disc and amber warning ring travel with the machine; the crew figure holds a fixed red exclusion zone. Radii are illustrative.
DECLARATION — SIMULATION. Schematic geometry throughout; no built hardware is depicted or implied. No dimension shown is a certified engineering dimension. No compaction density, lift thickness, pass-count specification, amplitude or frequency figure is stated or implied anywhere in this page. Patent pending. Not affiliated with or endorsed by any OEM.

A class-accurate schematic roller on a live work area, then the full Steady Eddie deployment sequence. Dock installs once and stays. Eddie deploys when required and is removed when not. The mode ladder climbs only through a human authorization gate; downgrade is instant.

DOCK STAYS. EDDIE MOVES.

The machine is back to human-only — same controls, same machine. The dock waits, empty, for the next deployment. Higher modes SE-2…SE-5 stay locked: each requires validation and a fresh human authorization.

AI plans. Rules govern. Humans authorize. Safety has veto.
